I met
Walt Disney
when I was a kid of perhaps eight years old.
We lived in Orange,
really close to Disneyland, in Anaheim. My family went there frequently,
usually as a spontaneous weekend activity. I didn't understand at the time how
special it was, until I moved to
Massachusetts
and found that people’s vacations and dreams were centered around
Disneyland.
For us it was just like going to the beach or some other ordinary fun outing.
One time Walt was out
there greeting visitors and
shaking hands
and being friendly. He was wearing a big feathered Indian head-dress. It wasn't
until years later that I realized how cool my encounter was! The memory of that
brief encounter
has stuck with me through the years.
