For $20 a day, you can add Disney Genie+ to your Disneyland admission. You will need to add it for each member of your party.

The main reason why you might want to consider buying Disney Genie+ is that you will then be able to use the Lightning Lane for over 20 rides in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. With Lightning Lane, you can skip the Standby Line and enjoy less of a wait.

You can hold one Lightning Lane reservation at a time. You can’t pick the time, but when you make your selection it will tell you when you can return. You will have one hour from that time to use your entry.

When it’s time to ride, hit “redeem”. You’ll then see a code, which you can scan at the ride’s entrance. After that, you can then make a new Lightning Lane selection.

If a ride is down, don’t worry, You’ll then be given a pass for “Multiple Selections”. It will tell you which rides you can redeem it for.

Another feature of Disney Genie+ at Disneyland is that all of your PhotoPass pictures are included, including ride photos. If you want pictures in some of the best spots at Disneyland, this perk makes Disney Genie+ worth the cost.

Disney Genie+ also includes Audio Tales. You can learn more about Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during your visit.

If you purchase Disney Genie+, you will spend a lot of time on your phone. Carry a portable charger, because you will most likely need it.

Paula K

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH, and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married, and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010, we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the Parks. Under the name Paula Brown, I penned the novels 'Dream Wanderers' and 'The Coffee Cruiser'. I also am a co-author of 'Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide'. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida.
